Marigolds/ Κατιφέδες

marigoldstext

The “herb of the sun’ as it is also called, is symbolic of passion and creativity.

The Marigold flower is said to be used by the early Christians to be placed on the altar of The Virgin Mary instead of gold coins, hence the name ‘Mary’s gold’.

The flower can be used to ease the pain of wasp or bee stings and even burns and skin infections.

    1. I have yellow marigolds as well. It seems to be a very universal and significant flower and it is used in so many cultures. I’ve read that they are popular in India and are used for festivities like weddings and other rituals. In Greece, we use them for religious festivals too. Thank you for your comment! 🙂

      1. You are absolutely right. It’s an integral part of our religious life.

Interesting to note that there exists lots of similarities between our ancient civilizations.

This is a wonderful forum and I really learnt quite a lot about from other cultures through interactions here.

        Have a beautiful day 🙂
