Happy New Year!
Well… it’s already got off to a rocky start (literally). I’ve heard by many that it will be another tough year. Who knows? It’s like leaping into the void. A leap of faith. And that’s what I’ll name this collage.
So, this is my first collage of the new year. I haven’t made a collage in a long time. I forgot how painstaking it can be to cut out the images. It’s a labour of love and it’s an art that brings me joy, and more of a sense of accomplishment than anything else. I love using my hands to cut and paste things. These hands just cannot remain idle.

Λοιπόν… έχει ήδη ξεκινήσει μια δύσκολη αρχή. Έχω ακούσει από πολλούς ότι θα είναι άλλη μια δύσκολη χρονιά. Ποιός ξέρει? Είναι σαν να πηδάς στο κενό. Και έτσι θα ονομάσω αυτό το κολάζ.
Λοιπόν, αυτό είναι το πρώτο μου κολάζ για τη νέα χρονιά. Δεν έχω κάνει κολάζ εδώ και πολύ καιρό. Ξέχασα πόσο επίπονο μπορεί να είναι να κόβεις τις εικόνες. Είναι μια δουλειά αγάπης και είναι μια τέχνη που μου φέρνει χαρά και περισσότερο μια αίσθηση ολοκλήρωσης παρά οτιδήποτε άλλο. Μου αρέσει να χρησιμοποιώ τα χέρια μου για να κόβω και να κολλάω πράγματα. Αυτά τα χέρια απλά δεν μπορούν να μείνουν αδρανείς

The doomsday clock has changed once again. It’s 100 seconds closer to midnight. Time is running out. The earth is in a state of crisis. Deadly weather, earthquakes, a deadly virus, talk of a third world war etc. Things are getting tougher and there is no other planet to escape to. There is no other planet like ours. Our planet is not disposable. There is no planet B. No earth part 2. All of the problems that we are facing we have to face whether we like it or not.
We are trapped in the hell that we have created, and with very little time left to reverse our actions.
Be careful
When you fly up high
Of the wing cutters below
They wait with eyes of envy

And like a predator attack
To make their incisions.
‘Covid-19 Conspiracies’ collage by Angela Zafiris
There are many conspiracy theories going around about the global pandemic. Some theorists say there is no virus, that it is a hoax. Others say the pandemic was pre-planned and it is all about the government trying to assert more control over people. When ultimate control is obtained people will be ‘microchiped’, then we will have a cashless society, then a one world government etc. Others say there is a virus, but it was man-made in a lab and that it doesn’t come from nature as many scientists claim. Also, they claim that the new wireless technology 5G is to blame for the spread of the virus. For a long time now there have been various rumors circulating about 5G technology and that it can destroy peoples’ immune system and that it can make people sick with cancer. Then there are the conspiracy theories surrounding Bill Gates as well. That he is enforcing a vaccine in an effort to depopulate the world. The assumption is that the elites are obsessed with the worlds’ over-population and due to their misanthropic feelings want to eradicate the- mostly poor people- from improvished countries.
I think that it is important to do your own thorough research, learn from various sources and follow not only what your intuition tells you, and also what history tells you as well. This is why it’s important to be educated about the past of our ancestors. In the past humanity has suffered through many pandemics, and there was plenty of fake news going around back then as well. People came up with various theories about where the plague came from. There were many doctors at the time, who in their desperation, came up with many strange concoctions to try and cure the diseases.
The truth always sees the light eventually, and this is the time of the revealing or apocalypse. The real truth will come out soon.
I do believe that many of these theories are dangerous and we need to all be on the same page and come together to fight our common enemy.

My collage is inspired by the meaning of success and especially what it means to people in most countries in our modern society.
I think that it looks like an unintentional vision board 😉
In the past I made myself a vision board-why not? It’s fun, I have my magazines, and you can be as creative as you want to be with your vision board. Although I am not a huge believer in ‘manifesting'( as the new age gurus like to call it) because I think that life is more complicated than that. As the old proverb says ‘man makes plans and God laughs’. Yup very true!
Are we the masters of our fate? Or are we slaves of our fate? Perhaps a bit of both? Who can know for sure?
But, I think about the future and how it would be an interesting thing to look at when one gets old. Imagine when your are in your nineties (God willing and if the apocalypse doesn’t come!) and you are rummaging through your stuff and you come across your vision board. You become overwhelmed by emotions looking at all the positive images that tell the story of all the things that you envisioned for yourself. All the dreams that may or may not have come true. Sad, bitter, happy you decide.

I didn’t start with a theme when I started playing with random pictures. I had the hand and the silver jug on paper first and the images fueled my imagination and it gave me this result. I think the artwork could be about the environment. It seems very ecological. I started working on this in April and April 22 was earth day, so why not?
Δεν ξεκίνησα με ένα θέμα όταν άρχισα να παίζω με τυχαίες εικόνες. Είχα πρώτα το χέρι και την ασημένια κανάτα σε χαρτί και οι εικόνες τροφοδότησαν τη φαντασία μου και μου έδωσε αυτό το αποτέλεσμα. Νομίζω ότι το έργο τέχνης θα μπορούσε να αφορά το περιβάλλον. Φαίνεται πολύ οικολογικό. Άρχισα να εργάζομαι σε αυτό τον Απρίλιο και στις 22 Απριλίου ήταν ημέρα της γης, ε λοιπόν γιατί όχι;

November 25th is the international day for the elimination of violence against women and girls.
According to a report by the U.N secretary general “..on the basis of data from 2005 to 2016 for 87 countries, 19 per cent of women between 15 and 49 years of age said they had experienced physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner in the 12 months prior to the survey. In the most extreme cases, such violence can lead to death. In 2012, almost half of all women who were victims of intentional homicide worldwide were killed by an intimate partner or family member, compared to 6 per cent of male victims.”
These statistics are horrifying and it needs to end. There is not a woman who has not been a victim of violence. This cannot continue to be our reality.
