Negative Nancy at the Party

This is my second sketch centered around the topic of internalized misogyny.

What I am depicting in this sketch is how some women will bring other women down. They are the so-called ‘mean girls’.. only this isn’t high school. Instead of uplifiting this person she is trying to make her feel worse. ‘Nancy’ can only think of being judgmental and critical. The kindness, empathy or positive words are most defintely lacking here.

“Your tears are never invisible—there is always an insecure woman that lights up when you point them out.”
“Τα δάκρυά σου δεν είναι ποτέ αόρατα — υπάρχει πάντα μια ανασφαλής γυναίκα που ανάβει όταν τα επισημαίνεις.”― Shannon L. Alder

Antiquated Dialogue/Απαρχαιωμένος διάλογος

This is the first installment of my series of illustrations that are centered on the topic of ‘internalized misogyny’.

Internalized misogyny is defined as when ‘women subconsciously project sexist ideas onto other women and even onto themselves’. But, for me it is a lot more than this. This is a very controversial and taboo topic that many women do not like to discuss, but we can no longer ignore. Without more honest dialogue around this issure there will never be true progress.

As women we don’t feel safe in the world. It can be a dangerous place for us as we can sometimes fall prey to predators. A women experiences a lot of abuse from her partner of father. So being around other women should feel like a safe haven, but sometimes it is not. Many times women face abuse and insults and hostility from other women. Many women behave with an immature cattiness towards other women. They project their insecurities and anger to women who are not in any way to blame or at fault. And lastly, they are prone to being highly judgmental and very intolerant of other women who are different than they are.

I could go on forever about this subject, but I think that it is best to let the art do the ‘talking’.

A Mockery of Democracy

‘A Mockery of Democracy’ illustration by Angela Zafiris

In my drawing the ghost of Cleisthenes (the father of democracy) visits a modern ‘democratic’ leader to give him a lesson on what democracy truly is. Demokratia, or “rule by the people” from demos, “the people,” and kratos, or “power”.

Many of the worlds’ leaders have made a mess of things from their handling of the pandemic to their lax attitube toward tackling climate change. They have divided the people and created an apartheid. The vaccinated vs unvaccinated. And to make matters worse leaders of countries like France and Greece want to enforce mandatory vaccinations. These totalitarian actions are only adding more fuel to the fire that was been burning for years. People are suffering financially due to the lockdowns and they are being told that heir wages will be cut or that they will be fired if they don’t get vaccinated. This is completely unexpectable and unconstitiutional. Also, IT IS agaisnt the Nuremberg code, and I beg to differ for anyone that disagrees. There will be major outbreaks if this abuse of power doesn’t end as people are waking up and becoming increasingly fed up with their leaders.

So, more power to the people as these governments are only bringing us closer to war and to our extinction!

You REAP What You Sow/O,τι Σπέρνεις, Θερίζεις

Illustration ‘You Reap What You Sow’ by Angela Zafiris

Happy Halloween!! A little treat for the followers. I drew the reaper getting what he deserves. And a poem in the spirit of Halloween. 🙂

THE GRIM REAPER

The reaper

Looks grim

His patience is wearing thin

He knows he can’t

Come for my soul

Though the hands and feet are cold

But not the heart

It won’t grow cold by the storms

Or by enemies and vampiric energies

The black magic went away

Watch it’s slow decay

Black shadows deflected

By the light

Up into the air

To meet the wrath of the angels

My time isn’t his

Let the reaper despair.

Galatians 6:7-9

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Dooms day ‘preppers’ worldwide can be heard saying ‘I told you so!’

I heard some predictions that this year would be the year that we will be grappling with fear and it shockingly came true. Fear and panic is the wrong way to deal with this crisis. It can weaken your immune system and make you  more vulnerable to illness. It can reek havoc in society.  I hope that the world can get through this crisis in the most humane way possible.

“Since the accuracy rate for the fulfillment of Bible prophecy so far has been 100%, we can be confident that it will continue to be so. No other religion in the world has such confirming evidence to inspire its faith.”

Happy International Women’s Day!

The Little Misogynist2

‘The Little Misogynist’-Illustration by Angela Zafiris

The illustration depicts the verbal abuse from males than many women experience on the street.

“A new UN report has found at least 90% of men and women hold some sort of bias against females.”

“According to the index, about half of the world’s men and women feel that men make better political leaders, and over 40 percent feel that men make better business executives and that men have more right to a job when jobs are scarce. 28 percent think it is justified for a man to beat his wife.”

Uhhh yes men are better leaders that is why the whole world is in turmoil!! And if your wife burns your omelette it’s okay to beat her, your not a psychopath!!

What a crazy world we live in!

The Parthenon Marbles/Τα Μάρμαρα του Παρθενώνα

Parthenon marbles

* That frieze was not easy to draw. Those classical sculptors were geniuses. It’s no wonder everyone wants a piece of the temple!
