Night Sky/Νυχτερινος Ουρανος

A distant shot of the ‘strawberry moon’ from yesterday.  Before this year I had never hear of this phenomena. It is called a strawberry moon because the Algonquin tribes of North America saw the pinkish moon as a sign to harvest the wild strawberries. Strawberry time! 🙂

Μια μακρινή φωτογραφία από το ‘strawberry moon’ δηλαδή φεγγάρι «φράουλα» από χθες. Πριν από αυτό το έτος δεν είχα ακούσει ποτέ για αυτo τo φαινόμενo. Ονομάζεται φεγγάρι «φράουλα» επειδή οι φυλές Algonquin της Βόρειας Αμερικής είδαν το ροζέ φεγγάρι ως σημάδι για τη συγκομιδή των άγριων φραουλών. Ωρα για φράουλες!

This one is on a mission.

These little kittens payed a visit to my backyard. They’re cute, but I can’t feed them all. Luckily, their mother didn’t neglect them and she collected them later.

Αυτά τα μικρά γατάκια επισκέφτηκαν το κατώφλι μου. Είναι χαριτωμένα, αλλά δεν μπορώ να τα ταΐσω όλα. Ευτυχώς, η μητέρα τους δεν τα εγκατέλειψε και τα συνέλεξε αργότερα.

Beautiful sunflowers planted from seed in my garden. It’s best to grow them from seed than to buy them from a flower shop, as they will last longer in your garden.

Όμορφα ηλιοτρόπια φυτευμένα από σπόρους στον κήπο μου. Είναι καλύτερο να τα καλλιεργείτε από σπόρους από το να τα αγοράζετε από ανθοπωλείο, καθώς θα διαρκούν περισσότερο στον κήπο σας.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I bought some very inexpensive flowers from this little flower market in the Northern Suburbs of Athens. There was music, dancing and flowers.  Looks like we are prepping for summer!

Αγόρασα μερικά πολύ φθηνά λουλούδια από αυτή την μικρή αγορά λουλουδιών στα βόρεια προάστια της Αθήνας. Υπήρχε μουσική, χορός και λουλούδια. Φαίνεται ότι είμαστε έτοιμοι για το καλοκαίρι!

This is one of my favourite quotes. It really caught my attention. I love it because it is so positive, hopeful and truthful. The darkness should never win;  it fears the light. There is so much light in the world even if we can’t see it.

May Day!/Πρωτoμαγια!

‘Happy first day of the month!’ or ‘Kalo Mina!’ as we say here in Greece.

On this day in Greece, we like to make wreaths. It’s a national holiday and no one works. In northern Europe people dance around poles and they wear wreaths of flowers on their heads.

I got my plants and I am ready to do so some gardening. I not only a cat lady, but a plant lady too 😉
