I am not an aspiring wedding photographer, but how can anyone with a camera on the street resist taking this photo? I think it’s very cute and it’s not something you see often on the streets of Athens.
The ‘Retro Festival’ in Athens’ Gazi area is for the nostalgic people who yearn for the good old times. A place where you can spot some of your old furniture from your childhood home and cars you’ve probably never have driven in. It’s a place where hipsters and old people collide; and a few minutes in you start to feel regretful for throwing away old 70′ and 80’s items that are now considered cool.

Some juicy grapes in my garden that were ready for picking. Τhey were very delicious!
Μερικά ζουμερά σταφύλια στον κήπο μου που ήταν έτοιμα για συλλογή. Ηταν πολύ νόστιμα!

Cave full of icons at the ‘Spring of Hasia’
Today, is a very important day for Greeks of the Orthodox faith. It is the day of the Great Feast of the dormition or death of the Virgin Mary. Many people fast for 15 days before this day and then a great feast is prepared. Athens is always so quiet this time of year as most Athenians head out of the city to celebrate this religious occasion.
I came across this little cave with Greek Orthodox icons inside. Not sure why the icons were placed in there, but it is most likely that some sort of miracle happened there. I’ll soon find out.. It’s located outside of Athens at a mountain with natural spring water running all around the site, and it is near a monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
A little sample of village life in rural Greece. It’s so quiet, peaceful with fresh, clean mountain air. It’s worlds away from a city like Athens.
“Reunion with the mother is a siren call haunting our imagination. Once there was bliss, and now there is struggle. Dim memories of life before the traumatic separation of birth may be the source of Arcadian fantasies of a lost golden age.”– Camille Paglia
“Et in Arcadia Ego”

A few scenic photographs of the beautiful mountains in Arcadia, Greece.

A photograph of some marsh land near two very magnificent beaches in Messinia, Greece.

I love this interesting and simple rustic decor at a restaurnat in Gialova. Messinia. Great idea for the backyard.

A city girl like me always fantasizes about places like this.
