7 Things About Me

1. I am a huge dreamer, and it’s a problem..

2. I have had a passion for photography since I was a child, but I didn’t take it more seriously until I began this blog.

3. I keep a block of A4 lined paper on my nightstand because when I wake up in the morning ( eh afternoon) I am bombarded with dialogue for screenplays. I also keep a dream journal. I usually dream about eating chocolate 😉

4. I have a university degree in Cultural Anthropology.

5.  Stray cats take advantage of me. They know that I’m a sucker! I recently saved one death. So proud!

6. I was ‘hit’ with a strong passion for making art in my late twenties. It surprised a lot of people who thought they knew me. Hey, I didn’t know myself either. The soul is so unpredictable ;0

7. My signs, in case you were wondering: Virgo, Sheep and Flamingo.

Meaningful Words/Λέξεις με Νόημα

Wordcollage.jpg

My first post of 2015 and I thought I would post a new word collage that I made . I cut out a few words and sentences from magazines in different languages that are important and mean something to me. Then, I painted over the words with some acrylic paint. I had a hard time coming up with a title for it, but I think that ‘Meaningful Words’ is an ok title since they weren’t just random words that I used.

Coffee and socializing. It’s a Greek thing 😉

Happy New Year everyone! Wishing that 2015 will be a happier, peaceful and warmer (!) new year.

I went downtown last Sunday and I took a few photos of the craziness that is Athens during the Christmas season. I was lucky that I went downtown before the winter weather really hit us.  Today’s weather reminds me of the awful Canadian winters that I lived through as a child and that I would like to forget-but can’t! (urghhh) I enjoy the mild winters in Greece.  December felt like October; I was still racking leaves! Now, all of the mountains in Athens and the rest of Greece are covered in snow, and the Athenians are not pleased about that not one bit. Also, it wasn’t such a great end to the new year for Greece for a few reasons like the call for early elections that no one wants, the nautical catastrophe of the ship ‘Norman Atlantic’, and the ‘Canadian weather’. So, let us hope that next year will not be ‘doom and gloom’ as  some people say it will be. I’ll  just say that it is going to be a better year.. no a great year! ;))

A few street photos of downtown Athens where there so many things to photograph. Athinas street, Ermou and Monastiraki are some well-known and busy streets. On that day Ermou street was so crowded my friends and I gave up and turned around. We went down a quieter street for a stroll. It’s probably a lot more crowded now that Christmas is approaching.  Crowdy streets are a happy site for shop owners and street vendors, but only if people are buying and not just taking strolls like we were haha!

Strange Shops/Aσυνήθιστα Kαταστήματα

Meat galore. Not for the vegan types!

Go green! Can't tell if it's real or fake foliage. Interesting nonetheless.

This shop caught me by surprise with its unusual decor.

The many brands of Greek honey.

In Athens, most of the merchandise is on the street so you don’t have to step into a shop to see what the store has to offer. It’s something you don’t see in many countries. Some of the items on display are really odd, like the wooden canes or the display case with the honey and alcohol on the wall of a shop. The shop with the sausages took me by surprise, that was a lot of meat! The shop attracted many people who were just walking by. Many were taking photos with their cell phones of the shops unique exterior.
