The small town of Nafplio is located on the eastern side of the Peloponnese. It is the capital of the prefecture of Argolida. The town is a photographers dream with so many things to take photographs of.  The town has so much history, and it’s interesting to note that Nafplio was Greece’s capital from 1828-1833. It’s a great place to get away on the weekend especially for those of us who live in a concrete jungle like Athens.

View From A Fortress

Last weekend, I visited the small town of Nafplio which is located in the Eastern Peloponnese, it’s not a far drive from Athens which is why many Athenians like to head here for the weekend. I have been to Nafplio many years ago, but I don’t remember too much.  This time I decided that I was going to take it in more and spend more time exploring and even walk up those 999 steps that lead to the fortress of Palamidi. The climb up was a difficult one for me because I’m not an athlete. However,  the view was breathtaking and it was worthwhile  even though it took me three days to recover. My poor legs 😦

Collage Cover Sleeve

cdcollagetext.jpg

cdcollagetext2.jpg

I made a mix tape of old Greek songs for a friend of mine who came to Greece this past summer.  I had nowhere to put the Cd, so I thought I’d make my cd sleeve using the templates from this site : http://www.autostraddle.com/now-what-how-to-make-a-cd-sleeve-for-your-superfly-mixtape/

Yes, it was a little too hot to do this sort of thing, but I think that it was worth it and my friend was very happy to receive this gift 😉

..”I think it’s a little different in Europe, because 40 is really the best age for a woman. That’s when we hit our peak and become this ripe fruit”.  – Juliette Binoche (French Actress)
I’m not 40 (I am in my thirties) so I am not ripe just yet, but I couldn’t agree more. Our society puts too much emphasis on youth.

Digital collage photograph

The original version of the above photograph didn’t appeal to me very much.   I took the photograph at a souvenir shop in Athens.  The colours were off due to the lighting from the store and the street. But, instead of deleting it I decided to make into a digital collage photograph. I made the handmade collage background, and then layered the photograph over it.

The result I think was much better 🙂

Leaves (digital collage photography)

The thing that I love about digital collages is that you can take a very boring picture of say .. leaves and make it more interesting and different.  All you have to do is make a collage background. My collage background is composed of bits of magazines images, and text from books.  I used tissue paper to add some texture in the collage. The collage is scanned on the computer and then layered with the image ( in my case the boring leaves) using any kind of photo shop programme. I use Paint.net for the layering because it is free and it doesn’t give me a headache. ; )
