A monument dedicated to Greeks soldiers from the village who lost their lives in WW1 and the Balkan wars and WW2.

The scenic village of Akovos in Arcadia, Peloponnese is a village seeped in history. The mountains are breathtaking and offer a great escape from the city life.

A few photographs of the snow on the mountains of Attiki region of Greece. The snow from the unusual snow storm ‘Medea’ has all melted away, thank goodness.

Snow Capped Mountains/Χιονισμενα Βουνα

mtpentelitxt snowcappedmountains The new year brought a new winter storm named ‘Telemachos’ (named after a character in Greek mythology) to Greece. It snowed in the Attiki region of Greece for the first time in years. The rest of Greece is worse than Canada-yikes! I wanted to make it up those mountains take some pictures, but the traffic is insane.

More ‘icy’ photos to come.

Snow-capped mountains are not something most Athenians like to see. The next wave of snow is coming tonight and people are bracing themselves for the subzero temperatures.

Τα βουνά καλυμμένα με χιόνι δεν είναι κάτι που οι περισσότεροι Αθηναίοι ήθελαν να δουν. Το επόμενο κύμα χιονιού έρχεται απόψε και οι άνθρωποι προετοιμάζονται για τις υπό το μηδέν θερμοκρασίες .

Snow capped mountains in Athens during a sudden snowfall this month after a period of warm weather.

From the roadside

The beautiful Mount Pentelicus (Pentelli), with its monasteries and luxury homes, is located northeast of Athens. It is from this mountain range that the ancient Greeks extracted their white marble to build the Parthenon and other temples in Athens. The weather that day changed abruptly, but I was able to sneak in a few photographs before the rainfall.

Το πανέμορφο Πεντελικό Όρος, με τα μοναστήρια και πολυτελών κατοικιών της, βρισκεται βορειοανατολικά της Αθήνας. Είναι από αυτή την οροσειρά, όπου οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες πηραν το λευκό μάρμαρο για την κατασκευή του Παρθενώνα και άλλων ναών της Αθήνας. Ο καιρός εκείνη την ημέρα άλλαξε απότομα, ομως προλαβα να τραβηξω μερικες φωτογραφίες πριν από τη βροχόπτωση.

Last month, I had a little adventure going up Parnitha mountain. Parnitha mountain is located North of Athens The view was breathtaking and of course I brought my camera and I took some photos of the landscape.
