Hello! I'm a Artist/Writer/Photographer who lives in Athens, Greece. I have many creative ways from writing, photography, collage art, mixed-media art and poetry. I love sharing my work with people from all over the world through my blog.

The Waltz/Tο Bαλς

“The Waltz’ -Digital Collage By Angela Zafiris

This is a photograph that I took of a large statue of people dancing in downtown Athens on Panepistimiou (University) Street. I was in a hurry so I didn’t get closer to the statue to get more details about it, but I am assuming that they are people dancing. I decided to change it up a bit  since it has probably been photographed hundreds of times. I decided to make it into a digital photography collage. The background is a collage that I made with red and gold acrylics with letters of the alphabet glued on it.  I scanned the background collage to the computer and then I added a new layer an ancient Greek text  that I found on-line and that I enlarged. I changed the coloured photograph into a black and white photograph and then I made the contrast of the image a lot darker to pop out against the background.

A Wish By The Sea/Μια Ευχή Kοντά Στη θάλασσα

Digital Collage by Angela Zafiris

This is one of the first digital collages that I have posted on my blog.  I love the transparent effect that you can make that is difficult and messy when attempting it on a regular collage.  I used collage background that I made a while ago.  I made the background with gesso, acrylic paints, stencils and text. I then scanned the collage and did some layering on my photograph of a beach in Greece.  The end result is a photograph that is much more appealing to the eye.

Great Expectations/Mεγάλες Προσδοκίες

Gods and Mortals/Θεοί και Θνητοί

One of my favourite things to take pictures of are statues. Both Gods and mortals have been the subjects of the talented ancient sculptors.  These artisans with their skilled and caring hands have captured the beauty of the Gods and Goddesses and the burdens of the mortals.  Skilled hands that have carved such realistic eyes that seem as though they are looking right at you.  Skilled hands that have carved such realistic mouths that seem like they could speak to you. During their two thousand-year existence these statues have seen it all.  If only those statues could speak. If they could what would they say?

Angelo The Cat/O Αγγελος Ο Γάτος

My snow-white, and blue-eyed Turkish Angora cat named Angelo is 3 months old; in human years that equates to 4 years.  This cat is like a 4-year-old child, and that explains a lot! I try to keep him in doors most of the time and away from the sun as these type of cats are vulnerable to a form of skin cancer called squamous cell carcinoma . This is why these types of cats are very rare in Greece. Many visitors who have come over mistaken him for a rabbit. But, everyone that came into contact with him, who were not big lovers of cats like myself, have fallen in love with him.
